Leeds United have ended their interest in a deal to bring Newcastle goalkeeper, Karl Darlow to the club, after they were unwilling to meet the £4m price tag according to The Mirror.

The Whites had identified the shot-stopper as the ideal candidate to challenge Bailey Peacock-Farrell for a starting spot in the Leeds XI.

But this latest development will mean that Marcelo Bielsa will have to look into alternative targets this month, as he looks to strengthen his squad ahead of their promotion push.

Leeds have had a number of injuries that have left Bielsa with a lack of options at times during the season.

Jamal Blackman has been ruled out for the remainder of this season, and it leaves academy goalkeeper, Will Huffer as the back up option to the Northern Irish international in goal.

But have Leeds made the right decision in ending their interest in Darlow?

We discuss....

George Harbey:

"They're making a massive mistake in not signing Darlow.

"They undeniably need another goalkeeper, and Peacock-Farrell hasn't looked the best this season.

"Darlow is a very experienced and successful goalkeeper at Championship level and he would have been a superb signing."

Louie Chandler:

"It's a strange decision.

"Leeds are in such a strong position now and their finances must mirror that so why they would give up on someone who would improve them significantly is very strange.

"Bielsa is playing a very dangerous game this window.

Jacob Potter:

"This could be a potentially season-defining error by Leeds.

"Darlow is proven at this level, and he would have been the perfect goalkeeper to challenge Bailey Peacock-Farrell for a starting spot in Bielsa's side.

"But he'll surely have another shot-stopper in mind to challenge the Northern Irish international for his place in the starting XI, won't he?"
