It is all change at St Andrew's with defender Michael Morrison the latest name to leave the club having failed to agree a new contract, as confirmed in a statement on the club website, ending his four-year spell with the Blues.

This latest departure adds to an already volatile situation at St Andrew's, that has seen manager Garry Monk leave the club, whilst talisman striker Che Adams has departed for Southampton.

So with Morrison and co leaving Birmingham, how concerned should Blues fans be?

We discuss........

Tommy Joyce

"You have to feel for Birmingham fans, there is such evident disruption at the club.

"It's damning that the captain doesn't want to stay on, and you wonder whether this would have happened if Monk stayed in charge.

"Birmingham now need to invest to pump some kind of belief into the supporters, as most now think they will be joining their new stadium sharers Coventry City in League One next year, and it's hard to argue with them.

"The board really had to get this over the line for me. They're under enough pressure from their fan base, and not managing to agree a deal for their leader is only going to add to the fire of the frustrations against them."

Louie Chandler

"I think Birmingham fans should be extremely concerned.

"With Monk, Jota, Adams and now Morrison going, the Blues have four massively influential figures to replace in just over a month.

"The powers that be have badly let the club down here and a relegation scrap is almost a certainty next season.

"With Monk in charge and able to lift spirits and galvanise all those around him I would have backed them to survive again but without that influence I honestly cannot see it."

Alfie Burns

“You’ve got to really fear for Blues heading into the new season, they’re in a real mess and things don’t look like getting any easier.

“In the space of a few weeks they’ve lost their manager, a talented winger, their top goalscorer and now the man who captained them last season.

“Pep Clotet had his work cut out replacing Garry Monk, but everything that the club had going for them is being ripped apart in front of him, which is a major concern for Blues fans.

“A relegation battle beckons and I seriously doubt whether it can be avoided if things carry on like this.”

Gary Hutchinson

“I think their fans have every right to be terrified this season.

“With the trouble at Bolton and Bury, the Birmingham situation is relatively low key, but there have been some really troubling movements in the last week or two.

“It started with Monk going. Last season he did incredibly well, lifting them to a level they had no right to be at. The points deduction hit them hard but with the tools at his disposal he did incredibly well.

“Now they can’t agree a deal with a key player? It’s utter madness. They’ve struggled to bring new faces in, so they have to retain those they have.

“I think they have a tough season ahead.”
