Despite success in the FA Cup, Swansea City are limping towards mid-table obscurity this season in the Championship, currently nine points off the play-offs but also 14 points above the relegation zone.

That aside though, Swans manager Graham Potter will be frustrated with the news that captain Leroy Fer has suffered a setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury that has kept him out since the end of January, as reported on the club website.

So how big a blow is the loss of Fer for Swansea?

We discuss.....

Jacob Potter

"This is hugely frustrating scenario.

"Fer has been crucial to Swansea in recent seasons, but has struggled to stay fit this season.

"His experience in the midfield has been sorely missed in Graham Potter’s side this season and they desperately could do with someone of his quality in their side."

Jay Taylor

“It’s somewhat of a blow.

“Graham Potter could use this time to blood some young players as they aren’t going up and they are just as likely to not go down either.

“The Swans are all but playing for pride, so with Fer’s injury being more of an inconvenience than a blow.

“I think they will survive without him; there is no need to be upset.”

Gary Hutchinson

“What are Swansea fighting for?

“Top six? Not gonna happen.

“They won’t go down either.

“So no, it isn’t a blow.”

Alfie Burns

“They’re a weaker side without him, there’s no doubt.

“When he’s in that central midfield, the Swans look a top-six side, but when he isn’t, they are mediocre.

“It still amazes me they even contemplated letting him go in January.”
