Despite inconsistent form in the Championship, one decision made by manager Dean Smith seems to working, with the form of loan defender Tyrone Mings a bright spot in what has been a difficult time for the Villans.

Mings moved to Villa Park from Bournemouth in January on a loan deal and though the Villans do not have an agreement to make the deal permanent in the summer, they have included a 'matching clause' that enables them to meet any rival offers for Mings should they come in according to the Mirror.

So should Villa looked to have made sure the Mings deal becomes permanent in the summer, when they signed him?

We discuss.....

Jacob Potter

"They’ll surely be tempted to submit a formal offer.

"Mings has been a rare bright spark in a disappointing few weeks for Dean Smith’s side and he has impressed the Villa supporters with a number of solid performances.

"Although they have no option to make his move a permanent one, they would be foolish not to try their luck with an offer."

“There’s no option in the loan, doesn’t mean it won’t happen.

“All his parent club have done is protect their interests.

“If he plays well, there’s an auction to be held.

“If not, Villa wouldn’t want him anyway.”

Jay Taylor

“Schoolboy error.

“I am sure that Bournemouth opposed such a deal as if they were open to selling, then they’d have put an option to buy in the deal.

“But Villa should have pushed for it having hardly played for the Cherries; it could come back to bite them come next season.

“It should have been a prerequisite.”
