There is a resignation amongst Stoke City fans that their goalkeeper Jack Butland will be off to pastures new in the summer, despite having a contract until 2021, in his quest to to become England’s number one keeper.
Bournemouth are just one of the clubs expected to make a move for the 26-year-old in the summer according to Football Insider, so Potters manager Nathan Jones should start planning for life after Butland.
So how should Stoke fans be feeling about a potential summer exit for Butland?
“I they will be resigned to losing him to be honest.
“It was a massive statement of intent when they managed to keep hold of him in the summer, but after failing to win promotion, they must be resigned to losing him.
“They need to be eyeing up a replacement now.”
“It’s been on the cards for a while hasn’t it?
“They’re not going to be surprised, the only plus is the money they might get.
“If they trust Nathan Jones, then a kitty is a great thing to get them started again.
“After all, it never got off the ground this season thanks to Rowett.”
“They’ll know it’s only a matter of time.
“I was surprised that Stoke managed to keep hold of Butland for as long as they have.
“As long as they can get a sizable fee for him, then Stoke fans won’t mind too much, as the money can be reinvested in the squad next season.”
