‘They’ll bottle the play-offs like they do annually anyway’ – Norwich fans taunt Derby fans following late penalty controversy

Norwich City continued their excellent run of form at Pride Park on Saturday afternoon, as a late penalty from James Maddison ensured the Canaries escaped the East Midlands with a point.
The Rams had taken an early lead through in form forward Matej Vydra, before goalkeeper Scott Carson kept his side in front by parrying striker Nelson Oliveira’s penalty away from danger.
The home side appeared to be edging ever closer to the three points that would have kept them in the automatic promotion spots before James Maddison won another penalty, which he cooly converted to ensure the spoils were shared.
However the decision prompted much controversy, with referee Jeremy Simpson initially pointing for a corner after Maddison appeared to dive over Carson’s trailing foot.
However after consulting with his linesman, the penalty was awarded, sparking outrage amongst Rams fans on social media who accused the playmaker of diving.
One fan shared a video of the incident on Twitter which Maddison responded to, claiming that Carson admitted to him on the field that there had been contact…
Wouldn’t bother Madders, they”ll bottle the play offs like they do annually anyway ????

Clear pen, why would you dive when there’s every chance you would have scored ???? Roll on next Sunday ????

You don’t need to justify yourself mate, it was a penalty – rest up and get ready for Sunday. #ncfc

Instead of talking about the dive what about that pass from Leitner ????????????

Wouldn’t even bother feeding em mate. We all know you’re an honest pro #ncfc

Trailing leg. It’s a penalty. Another thing is the great run in behind the defence. More of that, Madders! We’re often stale when there are no runs coming from midfield

Carson has his legs spread, you are trying to turn quickly and your legs can't go anywhere else considering how you are leaning to turn. Also you are looking at the ball the whole time… You didn't even do the scream and leg flick that divers always do

We still on about this ? games done and gone let’s move on. Have Derby never had a penalty for something similar? Thought not always on the wrong end of a decision I bet ! You won’t get automatic promotion ????????
