Luton Town manager Graeme Jones has a major task on his hands this summer as he looks to prepare a squad of mounting a serious challenge in the Championship next season, having gained promotion as champions of League One last time around.

This is the first real chance that Jones has had to stamp his own mark on the squad having taken over from Nathan Jones.

But will Luton be battling relegation next season?

We discuss........

Kealan Hughes

"A lot depends on how the new manager adapts to the squad and how they take on his philosophy.

"Luton have the momentum and the players to continue to do well next year, but it is important they bring in players with Championship experience and quality.

"It is also crucial they hold onto their best players. James Justin looks like he will leave which is a setback, but they will receive a very good sum of money for him which can be re-invested for the squad's benefit."

Jacob Potter

"They’ll be one of the favourites to be relegated.

"They’re going to have one of the smallest budgets in the Championship which is going to make it tough for them to compete with their relegation rivals.

"They’ve got some good players, but with the likes of James Justin being linked with a move away, I think they’re going to struggle to stay afloat in the Championship next season."

George Brooks

"Luton were magnificent last season, but they could struggle in the Championship next season after winning back-to-back promotions.

"I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them battling relegation next season, but that's not to say that they will go down.

"I think how well they do will depend on how the club strengthen this summer and signing Callum McManaman on a free was a decent signing."

Gary Hutchinson

“I do, but I hope with every ounce of my being they stay up.

“I have a soft spot for the Hatters. Mick Harford did a superb job and they’ve played football the right way to get where they are.

“They’ve had a terrible ride, that collapse ten years ago could have killed the club off. It’s great they’re back in the Championship but it’s going to be a tough season.

“If they stick to their principles, but also understand they need a plan B and to dig deep, they might just be okay.”
