Wigan Athletic are keen on taking Chelsea defender Matt Miazga on loan next season according to the Sun on Sunday (March 3, Page 61) unless Reading, where he is currently on loan, look to extend his stay past the end of this season.

Miazga, 23, has made seven appearances for the Royals this season since arriving in January, having spent the first half of the season in France with FC Nantes where he made eight appearances.

So should Reading look to beat Wigan to any deal for Miazga for next season?

We discuss.....

Jacob Potter

"They’ll be in pole position.

"Miazga has settled into the Reading defence perfectly since he arrived at the club and I can see Jose Gomes wanting to sign him permanently.

"Surely Reading is going to be a more exciting offer for Miazga compared to Wigan?"

Gary Hutchinson

“Depends on which division they’re both in.

“If one is relegated, the other is in pole position.

“Miazga won’t want to be making trips to Accrington and Wycombe next season.

“If they’re both championship, they should both fight for him.”

Jay Taylor

“They have the advantage.

“Having the player at their club already is a bonus – but it all depends on what league they are in.

“Whichever club goes down, won’t get him so staying in the division is the first port of call – think of getting the player in afterwards.”
