West Brom need to move swiftly to appoint a permanent manager to avoid missing out on transfer targets, as well as holding onto players who are coming to the end of their contracts, who could be of use to a new man in the Hawthorns hot-seat.

Highly rated midfielder Rekeem Harper is one who is out of contract this summer and who could be on his way out of the club, amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Norwich City and Celtic, according to the Daily Record.

So will West Brom kick themselves if Harper leaves on a free this summer?

We discuss........

Ben Lang

“Definitely. They will be regretting not offering him a deal earlier.

“Harper was a breath of fresh air when he broke into the side, but West Brom’s failure to offer him a contract meant his head got turned by prospective buyers.

“They will be wishing his future had been secured much earlier, as he could has all the tools to be an important player for the Baggies in the future.”

Gary Hutchinson

“They will, but that’s football I’m afraid.

“They acted too late; Sunderland did the same with Josh Maja.

“Sometimes, these situations are unavoidable.

“A player makes a big impact and his agent knows there’s a few quid in moving him on.”

George Brooks

"They'd regret it.

"Harper is a very talented young player and I think West Brom will be very disappointed if ends up leaving the club on a free transfer.

"Whoever becomes the new manager at the Hawthorns should do everything in their power to persuade him to sign a new deal.

"Losing a player with his potential on a free transfer would be a disaster."

Alfie Burns

“I think so.

“Harper could be a top, top player in the future and for West Brom to allow his contract to run down like this is a little bit of a disgrace.

“To me, it only highlights some of the problems that are kicking around at the Hawthorns right now.

“The Baggies should’ve been nurturing these talents and looking to build around them.”
