Sheffield Wednesday fans may be concerned by reports linking their striker Fernando Forestieri with a move to arch-rivals Sheffield United, as reported in the print edition of The Sun (May 12, Page 59).
As per the report, The Owls have set a £14m valuation on the 29-year-old who scored six times in 26 appearances this season, and this does not seem to be putting off the newly promoted Blades.
So how should Wednesday fans be feeling about the potential departure of Forestieri this summer?
“This might go against the grain, but I don’t think they should worry too much.
“Sure, he’s a good players, but they’re moving forward.
“He’s part of the old guard, part of the last era.
“Cashing him in is the start of the next stage of their history.”
“Forestieri has been an important player for Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship over the past few seasons and I’m sure fans will be sad to see him leave the club, especially if he moves to rivals Sheffield United.
“Steve Bruce will be looking to considerably strengthen his squad in the summer though and Owls fans can expect a few new signings.
“The club would probably be able to get a good replacement for Forestieri if he does leave.”
“They’d be sad to see him go.
“They’d have good reason as well, because Forestieri is one of their best players, that’s for sure.
“Sheffield Wednesday need to be doing everything they can to keep him at the club beyond next season.”
