Birmingham City have let defender Dan Scarr join Walsall for an undisclosed fee, with the 24-year-old centre-back signing a two-and-a-half-year contract at the Saddlers.

Scarr joined the Blues from Stourbridge in 2017 and made 26 appearances during a loan spell with Wycombe last season, helping them win promotion from League Two.

The Birmingham fan, who made only one first-team appearance for the club in the EFL Cup, is Walsall's fifth January signing.

So could Blues manager Garry Monk regret offloading Scarr at Birmingham?

We discuss.....

Jacob Potter

"They won’t regret this one.

"Scarr wasn’t getting enough game time with Birmingham, largely down to his injury troubles that he had during his time with the Blues.

"Birmingham have better options in the centre of defence, and Scarr won’t go on to be any better than what they currently have."

Chris Gallagher

"I don't think so.

"Whilst he has potential, Monk could not offer him first-team football now which is what the player needs.

"It's a good move for all concerned and it will be interesting to see how he develops."

Jay Taylor

“I don’t think they will.

“Birmingham are resolute at the back under Monk, and with depth, in that area I think it is a calculated risk that will pay off.

“Scarr wasn’t getting the game time, nor was he making it impossible for Monk not to pick him.

“Had he been capable of doing so, then he would be in the team. The fact he isn’t spoke volumes.”
