Ipswich Town have bolstered their attacking options this summer with the addition of Portsmouth's Marcus Harness, with the 26-year-old penning down a three-year deal at Portman Road.

Harness, who can operate anywhere across the front line and as a number 10, was attracting interest from the Championship nearer the start of the window.

Enjoying another productive campaign at Fratton Park last time out, Harness netted 11 league goals and provided six assists in 40 matches, proving to be extremely influential for Danny Cowley's side.

Issuing his verdict on Harness' move to Ipswich, Carlton Palmer told Football League World: "Yeah, I mean, he's a versatile front player. He's very, very effective in terms of goals and assists. So, it's a good bit of business for them.

"They've got him on a three-year contract. If he comes in and does what he's been doing, then I'm sure they will be delighted with the signing."

The verdict

Harness is an attacker who will bring lots of exciting attributes to Portman Road ahead of the new campaign and has the required ability to help deliver promotion.

An excellent ball carrier, with lots of confidence, pace and impressive out of possession traits, Harness is also technically gifted and can carve out opportunities for his teammates.

A player who can fit many different systems and many different positions, he is going to be a very strong option for McKenna to have at his disposal.

However, Harness will have to work hard to get into an extremely competitive Ipswich team, with McKenna already possessing good options in attacking positions.
