As reported by The Sun, Danny Simpson is training with West Bromwich Albion as he continues to search for a new club.

The Baggies have made an impressive start to the season, and remain unbeaten in the Championship after the opening six games of the campaign.

Slaven Bilic has made a host of signings since taking the reins at The Hawthorns, but are now said to be weighing up a move for Simpson, according to reports.

Here, discussing this potential transfer deal in today's six pointer is FLW writer George Harbey...

What is Simpson's current situation?

"Simpson is currently on the lookout for a new club after he was released by Leicester City at the end of last season.

"The 32-year-old made over 130 appearances for the Foxes during a five-year stay at the King Power Stadium, and helped them win the Premier League title in 2016.

"But after making just six appearances in the top-flight last season, Brendan Rodgers chose not to renew the full-back's deal, and he is now available to sign on a free transfer."

Has he had interest from elsewhere?

"Simpson was a reported target for Crystal Palace earlier on in the summer, as the Eagles looked to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka who signed for Manchester United.

"The full-back was also chased by French Ligue 1 side Amiens, but the two parties were unable to agree personal terms.

"Brighton and Hove Albion were another side credited with an interest in the former QPR man, but he still remains unattached heading into the second month of the campaign.

Would he be a good signing for West Brom?

"Simpson could be a decent signing for West Brom - he has experience of winning promotion from the Championship with QPR, and was one of the best full-backs in the Premier League when Leicester won the title three years ago.

"He is a very experienced player who could pass on some real knowhow and knowledge onto the likes of Darnell Furlong and Nathan Ferguson, and would also be a reliable option to have in midfield.

"Obviously, he won't cost a transfer fee and his wages might be a slight issue, but if they can afford it, then by all means go for it."

Do they need another right-back?

"In all honesty, I just don't see why West Brom need another right-back.

"Nathan Ferguson has been excellent in the early stages of the season, and has kept summer signing Furlong out of the team, with the latter making just two league starts for the Baggies.

"It would be very harsh to drop Ferguson after his form in the early stages of the campaign, and having three right-backs at the club would be slightly excessive.

"They shouldn't sign him just for the sake of it being a free transfer."

What has Slaven Bilic said about any potential deal?

"Bilic has remained coy about a potential deal, insisting that he has no plans to make any further additions to his squad before January, despite recently signing Ali Al-Habsi on a free transfer.

"Simpson is currently training with the Baggies' under-23 side, so whether he is just training with the club until another move materialises remains to be seen.

"Whether they're keeping a close eye him ahead of a potential deal a few months down the line, though, is unlikely, otherwise they'd make a deal happen soon.

"Via Birmingham Live, Bilic said: "People are still calling, but it’s nowhere near like in the transfer window where your phone is booming. Now, every few days someone calls about those players and I say ‘look, we are full’."

How should West Brom fans feel about this deal?

"West Brom fans are likely to have their doubts about this deal.

"Whilst Simpson is a very experienced player who has played in the Premier League for a large amount of his career, it's an area of the pitch in which they don't really need to strengthen.

"His wages have proven to be a stumbling block before, and whether Albion could afford his services remains to be seen."
