Martyn Waghorn is a man in high demand this summer with a host of Championship rivals eyeing a move for the 28-year-old.

Nobody was directly involved in more Championship goals last season than Waghorn who scored 16 goals and assisted 11 more.

They will face competition from Middlesbrough, Derby County, Birmingham City and Sheffield United if they are to bring in Waghorn.

The Blades recently lodged a £6million bid for the striker, which is just the latest in a string of bids made by Chris Wilder, report the Sheffield Star.

Tony Pulis has so far brought in two new faces this summer with Paddy McNair joining from Sunderland and Aden Flint moving from Bristol City.

Waghorn would face some stiff competition for places if he was to move to the Riverside, with Britt Assombalonga, Patrick Bamford, Martin Braithwaite and Ashley Fletcher to fight for a spot.

So would the Ipswich striker be a good signing for Tony Pulis's side?

Middlesbrough have a plethora of attacking options. Their main two strikers, Patrick Bamford and Britt Assombalonga, have between them, what Martyn Waghorn has.

For this reason, they don’t need him; but you can never have too many goal-scorers in the team.

Waghorn brings goals with him to any side he represents, that is a given.

Tony Pulis’ tactics might not suit the forward unless paired with a big man who can win his fair share of aerial duels.

But adding Waghorn would compliment their attacking contingent and make them a better side in the final third.

It would be a good signing for both club and player as Boro will be towards the upper echelons of the table challenging for promotion to the Premier League once more this coming season.

Chris Gallagher

They should stay away.

Boro already have Assombalonga, Gestede and Bamford who have proven they can score at this level.

Waghorn has had one good season but I’d still prefer the other three over him. It would be a strange move.

George Dagless

Absolutely.

Waghorn is a good performer at this level and Middlesbrough should be able to give him good service.

He'd be a success if he joined.

Gary Hutchinson

No. He's a Tony Pulis signing, but is he what Boro need?

They have Braithwaite and Assambolango, but does Pulis want them? No. He wants a bully and to a degree, that is Waghorn.
