Manchester United fans will be digesting the first signing of the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer era following the arrival of Swansea City winger Daniel James at Old Trafford, as confirmed on the club website.

This transfer shows a marked shift towards youth from the United recruiting team and could set a trend for future business moving forward, as Solskjaer looks to stamp his own mark on his squad.

But in light of the deal for James, is there any other EFL talent that United should be considering?

We discuss........

Kealan Hughes

"Max Aarons has had an exceptional debut season at Norwich, and could be exactly what Man Utd need at full-back.

"There have been a few rumours linking the club with the 19-year-old, and he would be a cheaper alternative to Wan-Bissaka, who they also have their eyes on.

"Aarons is a quick attacking full-back and although he will need to improve the defensive side of his game, Solskjaer would give him the faith and confidence he needs to improve, and working with the experienced Ashley Young should also help in this regard.

Alfie Burns

"Given the fact that they are clearly after a right-back this summer, they should look at Jayden Bogle.

"He had some great moments for Derby last season and although there is some serious room for improvement, he could develop nicely at Man United.

"Plus, he’d be coming at a fraction of the price they might pay for Aaron Wan Bissaka, which would make it a no-brainer.

"He’s got all the time in the world to develop and could really do that under the new regime at Old Trafford."

Gary Hutchinson

“Absolutely, where should we begin?

“They need a centre back don’t they? There are plenty of those about but I’d be looking at perhaps Dael Fry?

“If they needed a striker it would be hard to look beyond Che Adams as well. I could see him working well up top for them.

“Even Jarrod Bowen might be worth a look as well.”

George Brooks

"James could be a great signing for Manchester United, I just hope he gets a chance in the first-team at Old Trafford next season.

"I’m sure there are plenty of talented players in the EFL who are capable of making the step up to the Premier League, but I can’t think of many who would be capable of walking into the first-team at Manchester United.

"I know United were previously linked with Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham and I think he’d be a good signing for them.

"If United are going to sign young talents from the EFL, it’s important that they are prepared to give them a chance in the first-team, otherwise it could interrupt their development."
