It's bound to be a busy week ahead for Brentford Football Club, as they look for a new manager to succeed Dean Smith, who recently departed the club for Aston Villa.

The 47-year old made a huge impact at Griffin Park in this three-year stint with the club, transforming the Bees into real promotion contenders, and playing perhaps the most attractive football in the division.

This now leaves the question - who will succeed Smith at Brentford?

Sky Sports News are reporting that current assistant manager Thomas Frank is a real contender for the vacant role, and the London club reportedly have no concerns about letting the Dane take charge of the club for their next league fixture against Bristol City in a fortnight.

After spending nearly two years at Griffin Park and having managed Danish side Brondby in the past - should Brentford put Frank in as head coach straight away, or should they take their time finding another manager suitable for the job?

We discuss...

Gary Hutchinson

There's no rush, not for a day or two - most of the squad are away on international duty and they can afford to take their time.

There's a definite thought that continuity might be best, but they should act with caution as well as being decisive.

Tough I know, but this is a delicate appointment and they must get it right with their heads, not their hearts.

George Harbey

Would Frank be a good appointment for Brentford? I think so. But do they need to rush into things? Absolutely not.

The Dane knows exactly how the Bees play and how each player operates, therefore there is absolutely no need to change their brand of football.

But with a short international break on the horizon, the Brentford board have time to sit down and weigh up a proper list of candidates, before making a well-evaluated judgment on who should be the next Bees boss.

George Dagless

It would make sense - Frank knows the club and it would be the sort of move that Brentford know has worked for them in the past.

Continuity is key at Griffin Park and Frank ensures that.

Sam Rourke

They should go for it.

He's really highly-rated at Brentford and will know the London outfit inside out.

He has managerial experience with Brondby, so will know what it takes to excel in the dugout.

Jacob Potter

I think Frank would be the right man to be in charge of Brentford as he has been Smith's right hand man for a considerable amount of time.

He knows the club inside out and I feel they should appoint someone who already knows a lot about this current squad and how to get the very best out of it and I believe Thomas Frank is the man to guide Brentford to a top six finish this season.
