Sheffield Wednesday defender Joost van Aken is being linked with a move back to Holland, with PEC Zwolle managed by Jaap Stam, looking at bringing the 24-year-old to the Eredivisie, according to De Telegraaf via Football Oranje.

Van Aken has had an injury ravaged spell at Wednesday since signing for the Owls in 2017 and could see a move back to his homeland as a way of resurrecting his career.

So should Wednesday let Van Aken leave?

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

Without a doubt, they should.

He’s failed to be a regular at Wednesday and has not been able to get into the team, so his time at Hillsborough has been underwhelming, to say the least.

They should cut their losses, and free up some wages for a player who will have more on an influence.

Chris Gallagher

I don't think so.

It's too soon to be making decisions like that considering Bruce hasn't taken over yet.

He should assess the squad properly over the next few months and make a call on the Dutch defender in the summer.

George Dagless

Potentially.

He can play the ball but I'm not sure he is quite what the Owls need from a centre-half.

I would imagine the right price will see the Owls open to this one.
