Stoke City manager Nathan Jones faces a major overhaul of his squad in the summer after a lacklustre campaign this season that looks like ending with a mid-table finish, despite early season optimism amongst pundits.

Players are bound to depart the Bet365 Stadium before new recruits come in, with midfielder Joe Allen likely to be on the way out, amidst transfer speculation that West Ham will come in for the 29-year-old in the summer, according to Football Insider.

So should Stoke allow Allen to leave in the summer?

We discuss........

Gary Hutchinson

“100%.

“They need a full root and branch assessment of the playing staff and ruthless decisions need to be made.

“Allen is a decent player, but get him cashed in and plan for the Championship.

“He’s the old guard, part of the failure of the past two seasons.”

George Harbey

"It depends how much teams are offering for him.

"Allen has had a decent season, but in a way, he has been massively underwhelming, as have his teammates throughout the course of the season.

"But the thing is that, on his day, he is arguably the best player in the Championship, and should Stoke risk losing that?"

Jacob Potter

"They should cash in.

"Allen has hardly stepped up to the required standard in the Championship and Stoke need to rebuild for next season.

"Allen is likely to be one of the highest earners at the club and I think they’d be making he right decision in letting him depart in the summer."
