West Brom are on the lookout for a permanent new manager and former Brighton boss Chris Hughton has emerged as a leading candidate.

That's according to the Telegraph, who claim that talks will be held in the next week with the 60-year-old who was sacked by the Seagulls on Monday.

Hughton has a good record in the Championship, taking Newcastle and the south coast outfit to the top-flight over the years.

Therefore, he will feel he has a good chance of landing the job at The Hawthorns and the report states he is eager to get back into management.

But, how should West Brom fans feel about this development?

Here our writers take a look...

Ben Lang

"I think they will be encouraged by this link, as it shows the club are on the right lines in their recruitment strategy.

"Albion fans should take solace from the fact he has a good record in the Championship and can develop solid sides.

"The one concern they might have his prioritisation defence over the attacking unit, as this is where Albion have achieved most success this season."

George Harbey

"I think they should be pleased with this latest piece of news.

"After they sacked Moore, they were looking for an experience manager who plays nice football, and Hughton certainly fits that bill.

"He knows what it takes to get out of this league, and he would be an excellent appointment in my view."

Chris Gallagher

"They should be delighted.

"Hughton fits the bill for exactly what Albion fans should be wanting from their next boss.

"He is proven at this level, builds a hardworking team that supporters can relate to and is a classy figure to have leading the club."
