This weekend sees the second instalment of the season’s Second City Derbies as Birmingham City welcome Aston Villa to St. Andrew’s.

The previous meeting between the sides this season finished in a 4-2 win for Villa in a thoroughly entertaining display.

But months later, it is the Blues who sit higher in the table, currently three places better off in eighth place as both sides look to break into the play-offs.

A win for Smith’s side, however, will see them leapfrog their neighbours and potentially close the gap on the top-six to just three points.

And in the build up to the match, Blues boss Garry Monk has been praising Villa for their attacking prowess, saying they have the best options in the league.

It is a big claim given some of the quality performances seen from other clubs, but is he right?

We discuss…

Gary Hutchinson

“Yes and no.

“On paper, yes. Abraham is without a doubt one of the best.

“Outside of that El Ghazi, Kodjia and co should be doing better.

“They’re not though.”

George Harbey

“I think he’s right.

“On their day, Villa’s attack is sublime - they have an outstanding player in Jack Grealish and are lucky to have Tammy Abraham as well.

“Birmingham’s defence will have to be at the top of their game this weekend.”

Jacob Potter

“He's spot on.

“Not many clubs have the depth in attacking talent that Dean Smith has available to him this season.

“It's a shame that they haven't been able to capitalise on it this season as they should be challenging for the title.”
