It would be a lie to say that goalkeeping has been a big problem for Derby County over the last few seasons.

Scott Carson has done a terrific job between the sticks for the Rams, and he is clearly a Championship quality goalkeeper.

But with the appointment of Frank Lampard as manager, there may be big changes making their way to Pride Park.

Derby have a lot of ageing players in their ranks and Lampard could look to freshen things up so Carson could be at risk of that.

One person they could look to replace him is Chelsea goalkeeper Jamal Blackman.

It has been assumed by everyone for a long time that Blackman is not going to get a chance at the Blues, so the 24-year-old has had loan spells at Wycombe Wanderers and Sheffield United over recent seasons and has impressed at both.

But should Derby County make a move for the goalkeeper?

We discuss...

Alfie Burns

Not for me - they should avoid.

Scott Carson was one of the outstanding goalkeepers in the Championship last season, and despite Lampard’s Chelsea connections, moving for Blackman would be a mistake.

Other areas of Derby’s squad need addressing first.

George Dagless

I would say yes.
He's good enough for the Championship and isn't going to play for Chelsea next season.
However, where he was guaranteed a start at Sheffield United, Derby have Scott Carson in the way so he'd have to really push himself.
That's not a bad thing, though.
Chris Gallagher
Not unless Scott Carson leaves.
The Chelsea stopper is a good player but won't move to be second choice.
However, if the former Liverpool keeper does leave, Derby could do a lot worse than Blackman. He has proven himself to be a very good player at this level after his performances with Sheffield United last season.
Gary Hutchinson
Absolutely, Blackman proved himself more the adept at Championship level last season, signing him would be a superb move for any side at that level.
If they could get him permanently there might even be a few quid in it for them in a year or two.
