Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has been dealt a blow amid fears that midfielder Marlon Pack could be out for up to two months with a leg injury, it has been reported on Wales Online.

The 28-year-old was forced off during the first half of Sunday's 3-0 defeat at Reading and was missing from the midweek 2-1 win over Huddersfield.

So how big a blow will it be to the Bluebirds if Pack is sidelined for up to two months?

We discuss........

Sam Rourke

"They really didn't need this.

"Pack has a wealth of experience of Championship football and I thought it was impressive that the Bluebirds were able to lure him away from Ashton Gate with some ease in the summer.

"The 28-year-old offers a number of attributes that make him such a good second-tier player, he isn't afraid to do the dirty work whilst also possesses a varied passing skillset, which can be utilised when initiating counter-attacks.

"Joe Ralls, Will Vaulks and Leandro Bacuna will have to step up in his absence, and to be fair to them, they coped without Pack against Huddersfield.

"I'd say it's more of a frustrating blow rather than a major one."

Ned Holmes

“Yes, I think so.

“Pack has proven himself a consistent performer in holding midfield for Bristol City over the past few years and his addition looked like a smart addition to the Cardiff squad.

“The Englishman provides a different, more conservative, option than the other central midfielders in Neil Warnock’s squad.

“The Bluebirds were overrun by Reading last weekend and conceded three goals once the 28-year-old left the field due to an injury–based upon that showing the solidity of their midfield now looks a slight concern.

“Neil Warnock’s side have made an inconsistent start to the season, winning two and losing two, and the last thing he needed was to have his options reduced.

“This is unquestionably a big blow for Cardiff who only signed Pack earlier this month on transfer deadline day.

“Vastly experienced at Championship level, the 28-year-old would have been aiming to establish himself in the heart of the Bluebirds’ midfield over the coming months.

“Yet with Pack now having to watch on from the sidelines at the Cardiff City Stadium due to injury, it be intriguing to see who Neil Warnock decides to play in his absence.

“Whereas Joe Ralls is very much a mainstay in Cardiff’s starting eleven, the other central midfield role could end up being occupied by either Leandro Bacuna or Will Vauks who have both featured in the Championship this season.”
