Rotherham United will be looking to bounce straight back to the Championship this season following a narrow relegation.

And they were not willing to rest on their laurels on transfer deadline day either, bringing in exciting 21-year-old winger Jack Hastie from Rangers on a season-long loan.

Hastie only made the move to Ibrox in July, but does not appear to be an immediate part of Steven Gerrard's plans.

But how good a signing is this for the Millers?

We discuss...

Dean Cooke

"Jake Hastie is a young talent that could go onto have an exceptional season for Rotherham in League One.

"It's a transfer that works so well for both sides, as he gets the relative game time that is needed, whilst the Millers have actually got a fine player who improves their squad.

"Having impressed massively at Motherwell, the move to Rangers was always going to be one for the future, especially at just 20-years-old.

"A loan move works best for all, and if Hastie can hit the ground running, Rotherham may see an upturn in recent results."

Gary Hutchinson

"I think they needed something out wide. I saw them early in the season playing a 4-3-3 with Freddie Ladapo on the left; it didn't work.

"They've got decent forwards but needed that creative spark from out wide. I think if their fans are honest, it's been a bit of a damp squib so far this season.

"Jake Hastie should bring a youthful energy to their side, offering a good option out wide and maybe get a couple of the forwards firing.

"He might just fade into the background though; I can't see him playing on the side of a three, he surely needs to be in something like a 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1.

"Over to you, Paul Warne."

Chris Gallagher

"This is a very exciting signing for Rotherham, as Hastie is a player with huge potential.

"He showed the class he undoubtedly has when he burst onto the scene at Motherwell and such form caught the eye of Rangers.

"Of course, he is by no means the finished product but playing week in, week out is only going to make him a better all-round player.

"From Paul Warne's perspective, he has moved to solve a problem area in the team. Four goals in four games isn't good enough so far this season from the Millers and they need more creativity and quality in the final third.

"So, it's a move that suits all parties and it could turn out to be a good bit of business from the promotion hopefuls."
