This summer feels like one of the biggest transfer windows that Birmingham City have had for a long time, after coming close to playing League One football last season.

The Blues only confirmed their survival on the final day of the season with an impressive win over Fulham and Garry Monk will be eager to avoid any such dramas this campaign.

A large part of doing that will be down to how they perform in the transfer window.

So far the Blues have had just one new arrival through the door at St. Andrews in the form of left-back Kristian Pedersen who arrived from German outfit Union Berlin.

In terms of outgoings, four players have left the club, all on free transfers with Jason Lowe, Jack Storer, Andrew Shinnie and Robert Tesche have all departing.

So what is the final verdict on Garry Monk and co's transfer business so far?

We discuss.

Jay Williams

The Blues need to get cracking in the transfer window (if their embargo is lifted) in order to push higher up the league table.

Birmingham have only signed Pedersen so far and need reinforcements all over the pitch.

I’ll reserve judgement for now but Garry Monk needs to get his transfers in to bolster their squad.

The acquisition of a goalkeeper is vital this summer for Birmingham City to even consider calling their summer transfer business a success.

While others strengthen and bolster their squads, Birmingham will be looking to not only do the same but will need to get the best out their existing players if they are to improve on what was a dreary season last campaign.

What summer business? It's all been a bit quiet at St Andrew's, hasn't it.

Ask me again in three weeks time, when along with several thousand Blues, I expect to have seen an awful lot more happen.

Jay Taylor

It has been very quiet so far. But it is to be expected as Monk has the core of a squad that he will want to work with.

I think they will need to look more into the youth players and bring them on.

There is still time to go and Birmingham should be able to bring in two or three big players that will help them move up the league under Monk’s tutelage.

After their performance last season you would have liked to have seen a bit more in terms of incomings.

Admittedly the squad is not as bad as last season's performance suggested, but there is a definite need to strengthen.
