After a hesitant start to the season Aitor Karanka seems to have his Nottingham Forest squad firing, with them sitting in fifth placed in the Championship, just six points off current leaders Norwich City.

But despite already having one of the largest squads in the Championship, the likelihood is that Karanka will be back in the mix once the transfer market re-opens again in January.

So if Karanka is in the market for new recruits is centre-back an area he needs to address?

We discuss......

George Harbey

He definitely does.

With Danny Fox injured, you can’t just rely on Hefele, Dawson and Figueiredo all season - if one of them gets injured or one has to miss a game through suspension, then what does Karanka do?

They need something else in that department.

Gary Hutchinson

I’m not sure, he’s signed so many players it’s hard to keep track of what he has and hasn’t got.

Dawson’s injury is a real pain, but if they can recall Worrall there’s no need to go crazy with the chequebook.

The key for Forest is maintaining consistency now, they’ve found a rhythm.

The big question is, can Karanka help himself?

Jacob Potter

It’s not a necessity.

Forest do have a number of options in the centre of defence but Aitor Karanka could be tempted to add to his defensive areas.

He will need to have additional options ahead of the promotion run in, with the Reds challenging for the title this season.
