Cardiff City will be looking to bounce straight back into the Premier League at the first-time of asking this season after just one campaign back in the top-flight.

But despite their relegation, goalkeeper Etheridge frequently impressed massively in goal for the Blue Birds, playing in all 38 of their league matches and making the second most saves in the division.

However, it looks like Neil Warnock could be about to lose his key man with Aston Villa ready to increase their offer for the goalkeeper from £8million to £9million, according to Football Insider.

Smith is reportedly eager to bring in a reliable presence in goal for the beginning of the season with both Orjan Nyland and Lovre Kalinic proving unconvincing and Jed Steer's only recent revival.

So, should Cardiff accept this offer?

We discuss...

Kealan Hughes

"He's worth more than that, and now that Villa have more money at their disposal Cardiff should ask for more.

"Etheridge has had a brilliant season and he's still the right side of 30 so has plenty of years left in him.

"He has been key to Cardiff over the last couple of years and could be vital to them mounting a promotion challenge, so should only be let go if a ridiculous offer comes in."

Toby Wilding

"I don't think they should.

"Etheridge is one of those players they surely need to keep hold of if they are to compete for promotion to the Premier League again next season, and this should be the aim for the Welsh side.

"Keeping hold of him would send out a clear message about Cardiff's intentions this season, and I'm not sure Etheridge will be too concerned if he missed out on a move to a side for whom next season could easily go either way in the top flight."

Louie Chandler

"They must look to keep hold of him.

"After spending shrewdly in the Premier League Cardiff are not in a position where they will need to sell their players this summer, especially with parachute payments helping them out.

"Etheridge was brilliant last season and with two years left on his deal Cardiff should be looking to get a fair bit more before they consider selling."
