Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder is going to test new Nottingham Forest manager Sabri Lamouchi's resolve with a £3m offer for midfielder Ben Osborn, it is reported in The Sun.

The newly promoted Blades are keen on Osborn who scored five times in 39 appearances for Forest last season as they finished ninth in the Championship, but Forest are said to value their central midfielder at nearer £6m, which could prove a stumbling block.

So should Forest let Osborn leave amid interest from the Blades?

We discuss........

George Dagless

"I'd say no.

"I know that Osborn does divide some Forest fans but for me he is a player that they should be looking to keep.

"He's reliable, fairly consistent and can play in a number of roles whilst he also has plenty more to offer in the coming years. Indeed, he's been at the club for a long time and you won't get many more committed than him, which is something in the modern game that is all too rare.

"I think it speaks volumes that Chris Wilder is taking a look at him because he can usually pick a player and with him planning for the Premier League he isn't going to take a chance on signing mugs.

"If I'm Forest I'm holding onto him for as long as possible and I'm trying to get him on a new contract as soon as possible.

"Sometimes, though, money talks."

Gary Hutchinson

“No, but they might not have a choice.

“Sheffield United are Premier League now and as such, this is a step up. Odd how quickly football changes, isn’t it? Not so long ago the Blades were a League One selling club, now they’re a major player in the transfer market.

“I think Forest might have to cash him in. You can’t go holding players back when a big chance comes along for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it unsettles them.

“Secondly, it sends the wrong message out to other players. Let’s say Forest hold Osborn back, then go head to head with a club like Derby for the next big thing in League One. The player will sign for the club who seemingly allow progression, leaving Forest out in the cold.

“Plus, the money would be nice.”

George Brooks

"I think Nottingham Forest should consider selling Osborn this summer, provided they can get a good price for him.

"The midfielder has one year remaining on his contract at the City Ground, so it would make sense for the club to sell him this summer, rather than allow him to leave for free next year.

"I'm a little bit surprised that Sheffield United are interested in him to be honest, but Chris Wilder obviously views him as a player with the potential to succeed in the Premier League.

"Even though he hasn't always impressed throughout his time at the City Ground, Osborn is still a good player and he's got plenty of experience in the Championship, so Forest might be able to hold out for a decent fee for him.

"Sabri Lamouchi will be looking to put his own stamp on the Forest squad this summer and selling Osborn would free up some funds for him to make some new signings."
