Aston Villa's faltering season continues, with Dean Smith's side being held to a 0-0 draw at struggling Reading at the weekend, a result that leaves them in ninth place in the Championship, four points off the play-off places, with only a third of the season left to play.

The draw marked another fixture Smith has had to do without star-man Jack Grealish, who has been sidelined since December with a shin injury, but is reported to be nearing a return to full fitness.

So do Aston Villa rely on Grealish's influence too much?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

“Not at the minute they don’t.

“I think it’s unfair to say that, unfair on key players such as John McGinn.

“He’s one I really like and without him, they’d be in a far worse position, with or without Grealish.”

Jacob Potter

"They do rely on him too much – but it’s clear to see why.

"His creativity is sorely missed when he is out of the team, and I think the pressure is something that Grealish thrives off.

"Villa desperately need him back as they have looked void of any ideas going forward in recent weeks."

Alfie Burns

“Definitely, it’s worrying to think where the side will be if he leaves in the summer.

“However, taking a player like that out of any side would make them weaker, so it’s understandable.

“Dean Smith will be desperate to get him back at the earliest of opportunities.”

Jay Taylor

“It’s clear, isn’t it?

“They have hardly won in the ten games he has been out and the previous ten he played in, they won half their games.

“It is clear he is their talisman, but Smith altering system hasn’t helped either.

“4-4-1-1 to 4-1-4-1 means there is no number ten behind Abraham to provide in close proximity.

“That’s Grealish’s role and without him they look snookered.”
