Queens Park Rangers have a tight budget this season, with manager Steve McClaren reliant on youth for the forthcoming campaign.

McClaren has been given the remit to blood the youngsters this year as the free-spending days at Loftus Road appear to be over.

Rangers have only made one signing this summer, defender Toni Leistner arriving from Union Berlin on a free transfer.

Six players have left the London club including Nedum Onouha, James Perch and Jamie Mackie.

All three were senior professionals within the club, but all were on pretty sizeable salaries.

QPR have themselves one of the best academies in the country, and chairman Tony Fernandez feels it is time the club’s investment in the youth system starts to pay dividends.

With the lack of new arrivals at Loftus Road this summer, it would appear McClaren is sticking to his instructions to bring more academy products into the first team.

We here at FLW discuss if Queens Park Rangers are too reliant on youth this season as they look ahead to their Championship opener away to Preston North End this Saturday.

Gary Hutchinson

Only time will tell!

They've got some exciting youth players who could go on the achieve great things, and a famous commentator once famously said 'you'll never win anything with kids'.

Then again, Eze isn't Beckham, and I would like to have seen a bit more experience in the side by now.

Alfie Burns

Absolutely, I think they could be in real trouble.

The squad McClaren has put together doesn’t convince me.

It’s short of some Championship experience in key areas, which is something that needs to be addressed in the coming week.

Chris Gallagher

Without a doubt.

Obviously, it's a risk, but in fairness, they have a lot of talented players coming through.

They need a few additions, but it's good to see this talented group getting a chance.

Jay Taylor

It looks like they will be.

One signing this summer after a clearout of experienced players and the remit to bring through the youth.

If you try and blood too many at once it could have an adverse effect.

Time will tell, I guess, but they look like a very inexperienced side.
