New Norwich City manager Dean Smith is interested in striking a deal for Aston Villa midfielder Conor Hourihane, who is currently on loan at Sheffield United, as per a report from Football Insider.
Smith, who swiftly emerged as The Canaries boss after parting company with Aston Villa last week, will be hoping for a reunion with the Irishman.
Hourihane arrived at Villa Park a year before Smith, helping the Midlands club to promotion during the 2018/19 Championship campaign.
Quiz: Have Sheffield United ever won an away game at each of these 20 stadiums?
The 30-year-old started 18 times for Villa during their first season back in England’s top-flight, scoring three times and providing a further five assists.
Hourihane saw his game time decrease at the start of the following campaign, arriving at Swansea City on loan for the second half of the campaign.
Chipping in with five goals and two assists in 19 games with The Swans, Hourihane helped the South Wales club to a play-off place, but The Swans were unable to get past Brentford in the final.
Struggling to pave his way back into the Villa side during pre-season, and the early stages of the 2021/22 campaign, the left-footed midfielder embarked on a loan spell with Sheffield United.
Here, we take a look at how some Sheffield United fans have reacted that Norwich are an interested party in the 30-year-old…
Would let him go now such a disappointment to what we thought we were receiving

It there was a motorway to Norwich I’d drive him.. as there isn’t I will give a thermal flask so he can hitchhike.

Makes sense to cut the loan short because he's nowhere near the starting 11.
Would free up a loan space in January too for a more suited position

So thats Hourihane, Bash, Burke and Moose all being linked with moves away in January, time for Slav to show us his skills in wheeler dealing! 🙂

They can take him. Gives us a new loan space. Would like someone like Kiernan Dewsbury Hall
