Sheffield United currently sit in third place in the Championship table but just three points behind Norwich City who occupy the final spot in the automatic promotion places.

Excitement is building that this could be the season that the Blades return to the top-flight and they look set to conclude another piece of exciting business in the form of Aston Villa striker Scott Hogan on loan.

Hogan has been the subject of plenty of speculation this month but it now looks like he will be part of Chris Wilder’s set-up for the closing stage of the season with the striker currently undergoing a medical, according to Football Insider.

The 26-year-old has struggled to find his feet since arriving at Villa Park for just under £10million in January 2017, scoring just ten goals in 61 appearances for the club.

There were hopes that he would be able to recapture the form he showed at Brentford when he was reunited with Dean Smith earlier this season but that has failed to materialise, with Hogan making just six appearances.

And here is how the Villa faithful reacted to the news…
