Brentford manager Thomas Frank is working hard to strengthen his squad, with Blackburn Rovers goal-keeper David Raya the latest player who looks to be heading to Griffin Park, according to a report on Sky Sports.

Raya, 23, was a regular for Tony Mowbray's side last season making 44 appearances in all competitions, having only made 54 appearances prior to that, in the preceding four years since arriving at Ewood Park in 2014.

So with Blackburn looking for £3million for Raya, can that be considered a fair price?

We discuss........

Toby Wilding

"I think the sort of fee reported is probably fair.

"Raya still has two years remaining on his contract at Ewood Park, so Rovers are in a reasonably strong position to negotiate a fee for the Spaniard, and given up until recently it had been expected he would start the season as the club's number one, they are not going to want to let him go on the cheap.

"As Brentford found out to their expense at Ewood Park back in August, Raya is an excellent shot stopper, although there is still work to be done on his command of his area, meaning that while Rovers will not want to let him go cheaply, they are not going to get a fee of more than a few million for the 23-year-old while there is still that question over him.

"With Raya set to go it will leave Jayson Leutwiler - who has made just six league appearances in two years at Rovers - as the club's only senior goalkeeper, so the Lancashire side will want to make sure they get the sort of fee that can reinvested in finding a direct replacement for their seemingly departing stopper."

Alfie Burns

“Raya has really impressed me for Blackburn since their step up to the Championship, and if Rovers are going to lose him, they’re well within their rights to demand top dollar.

“The transfer market might be inflated, but Raya shouldn’t go on the cheap, especially to a Championship rival.

“He’s only 23, which for a goalkeeper is incredibly young, with his best years firmly ahead of him – something Blackburn will be well aware of.

“After helping Blackburn to a solid mid-table finish last season they won’t want to lose him, and considering his age and where he might be going, £3m looks a fair price.”

Tommy Joyce

"Baring in mind Raya is only 23, £3million is probably justified, especially when you consider the potential resale value.

"Having over 100 games at this level at that age is a sign that you might be on for a successful career. He has already proved himself at this level, so in theory, he could be their keeper for the next 10 years, or he outgrows them and they can sell for a much larger profit.

"23 is really young for a goalkeeper and he has a long way to grow, £3million makes a lot of sense for Brentford.

"It's also reasonably good money for Blackburn too, and it will go along way for Tony Mowbray. If they can get some sort of sell-on clause with a percentage of any profit made on him, then it's a deal which could suit both parties."
