Backed by Thai businessman Dejphon Chansiri since 2014, Sheffield Wednesday undoubtedly have one of the strongest squads on paper in the Sky Bet Championship.

As each season goes, the Owls seem to get stronger with competition for places higher than ever.

Carlos Carvalhal's side sit in a comfortable 10th position in the league table, only two points away from the play-off positions.

This time round, the Owls certainly have the quality to push for promotion once again after coming so close last season when they slipped to a play-off final defeat to Hull City in May.

In the last few seasons Sheffield Wednesday fans have seen a number of players arrive at the club with huge amounts of potential.

Many players have reached their potential in recent seasons such as Sam Hutchinson and Kieran Lee though many have not.

For these players, moving onto pastures new may be the best way to help reignite their career and finally fulfil their potential.

So here are two Sheffield Wednesday players that need to leave to fulfill their potential.

Lucas Joao

Since his arrival in the summer of 2015, it is fair to say that Lucas Joao has failed to live up to his potential so far.

The 23-year-old undoubtedly has talent but has failed to ignite his career whilst with the Owls.

Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal boasts a very impressive attacking arsenal already with the likes of Gary Hooper, Steven Fletcher and Fernando Forestieri all pushing for a place in the starting 11.

At this moment in time, Joao looks highly unlikely to get a chance to show what he can do.

A move away from Hillsborough would certainly be the best way for the young striker to fulfil his potential.

Joe Wildsmith

Admittedly, with current number one goalkeeper Keiren Westwood nailing down the starting spot, every back up keeper such as Joe Wildsmith, Jake Kean and Cameron Dawson look unlikely to get a chance to play.

It is unknown as to how long Westwood will continue to start for the Owls and it is also unknown who will replace him when he is no longer required.

After Carvalhal signed the promising Jake Kean this summer, Wildsmith's chances became arguably more limited.

However after being assigned the number two shirt at the start of the season, the 20-year-old has made more appearances than Kean already this season.

Nonetheless, a player of Wildsmith's potential needs to be starting every game at this stage of his development and a move away from Sheffield could help him fulfil his potential much quicker.
