Nottingham Forest end their disappointing Championship campaign with a trip to Bolton Wanderers on Sunday afternoon, a visit that has never seen the Reds return with three points in a winless run stretching back to 1999.

The last five meeting between the sides in Lancashire have ended even, with another tight affair expected at the Macron Stadium given the fact that the hosts are fighting for their lives at the bottom of the table.

Forest manager Aitor Karanka will hold no sympathy for his opponents however, hoping to enter the summer break on a high note.

Transfer plans will already be underway with a number of targets sure to have been identified by the Spaniard but Karanka may not have to look outside of those on the books to improve his squad in some areas.

This pair returning from loan spells could play an important role at the City Ground next season...

The young playmaker has been a shadow of his usual self this term, with a loan spell at boyhood club Bolton Wanderers failing to reignite the player's stalling career.

Clough began his time in the English game in excellent fashion with the Trotters, earning a big move to the East Midlands whilst the Trotters spent a season in the third tier but so far he has been unable to replicate his form in Nottingham.

Next season is make or break for the 23-year-old.

He either returns to the club and impresses his manager in preseason training, or will find himself shipped off on a permanent deal, one fans will look upon with great regret given the potential with which the player arrived at the club.

Clough harbours the ability to be the playmaker within this side but must prove that he is deserved of the role.

The son of former Forest and England defender, Des, Walker is a popular figure at The City Ground with fans willing the youngster to replicate the success of his father.

Walker burst onto the scene with a series of promising performances, scoring three times in only seven starts for the Reds, before being allowed to head on loan to Bolton with teammate, Zach Clough.

Having been used sparingly by Trotters boss Phil Parkinson given his side's relegation fears, Walker will feel his time may have been better spent with his parent club and will return ready to prove that he should never be allowed to leave again.

A pacy player with a natural eye for goal, Walker is showing all of the signs of becoming a top Championship striker and a man that could fire the Reds towards the play-off spots next season.

If Walker fulfils his potential, Nottingham Forest could turn an extremely tidy profit on the player.

Forest fans, thoughts?
