Millwall will be in the market for recruits in the new year as they look to move away from the Championship relegation zone.

In an interview with NewsAtDen, the Lions boss updated supporters on his plans for the January transfer window after a spate of injuries in recent weeks and a failure to kick on this season after last year’s eighth-place finish.

Back in October, Neil Harris admitted he didn’t expect any permanent incomings or outgoings but acknowledged the statement made and said it was “early days.”

And it was early days indeed, as Tom Bradshaw has since been ruled out for the season.

Shaun Williams, meanwhile, is out for an extended period with ankle ligament damage.

Injuries will need to be covered as well as looking to improve in areas that Harris deems to require strengthening.

For new players to come in, there will almost certainly need to be departures to facilitate the potential incomings.

With that said, these are the Millwall players that need to leave for Harris to secure some new year additions.

Having played a bit-part for Millwall since signing back in August, making just one substitute league appearance in the draw with Bristol City, Jem Karacan's deal runs out in January.

Having not featured much, you would imagine Neil Harris will be considering letting the midfielder go to free up wages for potentially better options in January.

Had he played more, a new deal might have been forthcoming, but for new players to come in, the 29-year-old will need to leave.

Millwall’s third-choice goalkeeper behind Jordan Archer and on-loan Ben Amos, Dave Martin will rarely play for the club this year – if at all.

Allowing the stopper to leave will free up wages for new additions to strengthen the side further.

Having three senior keepers is a bit of a nonsense, and one could surely go – namely Martin, that will allow Harris more money to spend on a position that needs more urgent attention.

Since returning from a serious knee injury, Byron Webster has seen first-team game time limited.

Failing to make the bench on several occasions too, his place has instead gone to summer signing Murray Wallace.

With Shaun Hutchinson and Jake Cooper holding down the centre-half positions, Harris might want new-blood in his back line, and unfortunately for Webster, he could be a victim of that.
