Derby County have recently appointed a new manager in Frank Lampard and now they are hoping to press on and improve on last season.

Under Gary Rowett last term, Derby finished sixth but could not negotiate their way past the play-off semi-finals, falling 2-1 on aggregate to eventual winners Fulham despite leading after the first leg at Pride Park.

With another season in the Championship ahead and Rowett leaving for Stoke City, Derby have brought in Lampard and hope that he can build a promotion-winning squad on a tight budget.

Lampard has been linked with a move for his former England and Chelsea team-mate John Terry, who recently left Aston Villa after they failed to win promotion via the play-offs.

Aston Villa are in serious financial trouble and could not afford to keep the 37-year-old and now he is available on a free.

But if he joins with his hefty £60k-per-week wages, these two players could leave.

The Mirror recently ran a report suggesting that the sale of Davies would bankroll a move for Terry.

Derby will accept offers for their captain if a team matches their £3m price tag and Rowett's Stoke could swoop.

The 33-year-old has been so crucially important for the Rams this season and selling him to bring in Terry could prove to be a big mistake.

Pearce was limited to just 10 games last season for Derby.

The experienced 29-year-old would probably get starting time at another Championship club, though, and he might leave if he finds himself behind Terry, Davies and Richard Keogh in the pecking order.

The Republic of Ireland international will need to impress Lampard in pre-season to prove he should not face the sack.
