Leeds United are sitting pretty at the top of the Championship, despite their lead being cut to just one point this past weekend.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men have had a stellar season to date despite several injury worries and off the field antics taking their toll.

But the Elland Road outfit remain in pole position for a return to the Premier League.

Additions will almost certainly be needed to keep them in contention for the title.

Kiko Casilla has already arrived with more surely to follow.

When new players arrive, that pushes down the prospects of young players and other first-team regulars getting game time, and that could see their time at the club numbered.

If that is the case at the club this January then players should opt to leave in order to continue growing in their own careers and not be stuck playing at a level, they feel isn’t improving them.

Failing to get a short-term or permanent move away could be terminal in their young careers.

With that said, these Leeds players face an uncertain future if they don’t secure moves in the coming days

Tom Pearce

The 20-year-old Leeds man has made two substitute appearances in the league this term, starting twice in the League Cup.

Drafted into the team to alleviate some defensive pressure when injuries mounted, Pearce has found opportunity in the first team harder to come by having played just once since a 40-minute appearance in October.

Ryan Edmondson

Having featured for just 19 minutes in the first team this term, Edmondson might be seeking at least a loan move away to get some first-team experience.

Failing to land a move in the coming weeks could see him have to settle for U23s action for the rest of the season with Leeds’ attacking options bolstered by the return of their injured stars.

For the sake of his development, a move away for at least the short term is advisable.

Will Huffer

Having made one appearance this season and now having the arrival of Kiko Casilla to contend with, if Huffer doesn’t get a loan away to a league club in the coming days, then his chances to play competitive league football are over.

Bailey Peacock-Farrell will be either starting or on the bench, so if 20-year-old does not get a move away on loan between now and the end of the window, he could be faced with U23s football for the rest of the season after having a taste of first-team action.
