The Rams are now back in pre-season training, and for the fourth consecutive season they will be aiming for promotion.

Nigel Pearson is the new manager at the iPro Stadium, and he'll be looking for a repeat of his Championship success with Leicester.

Derby have a decent squad already, but if they are to capture promotion to the promised land, improvements must be made.

They were far too inconsistent last season, and it cost them again, so Pearson will be looking to assemble a squad capable a consistency.

So far this summer, the club are yet to make any signings.

Still, a number of reports have surfaced already linking a various players to the iPro Stadium.

Owner Mel Morris invested a heavy amount of money into the team last season, but not all of the new signings paid off. Derby will be hopeful that the players they bring in this season will live up to their price tag, and bring promotion.

Football League World writer Rob Booth identifies FOUR signings that would undoubtedly improve Derby...

Jordon Ibe

Jordon Ibe had a spell on loan at Derby during the 2014/15 season.

Ibe has had less game time since the arrival of Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, so this could trigger a move away from Anfield for the winger.

Some Derby fans were less than impressed with Tom Ince's performances last season following the fee of almost £5m that Hull received for him

Although if the youngster did announce that he wanted to leave Liverpool, his incredible talent would attract the interest of much richer clubs than Derby, so the Rams would have to bid high to bring him back to the East Midlands.

Jonathan Kodjia

Jonathan KodjiaJonathan Kodjia

Jonathan Kodjia has been heavily linked with Derby this summer.

Many Rams fans feel the need for a new striker after Chris Martin had his worst season at the club in terms of goal scoring in 2015/16.

The Bristol City man bagged 19 league goals last season finishing the 4th highest scorer in the league. He'd be a great addition to the new-look frontlineas he's quick, agile and he knows where the goal is.

James Wilson

James Wilson

James Wilson spent most of last season on loan at Brighton.

Similarly to Kodjia, he'd improve Derby's attack since he brings pace and agility, which can help provide an attacking style of play that Rams fans demand.

The arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Man United as well as the rise of Marcus Rashford could mean that James Wilson may be available to leave Old Trafford permanently this summer, and he would definitely be a great signing for Pearson.

Andre Wisdom

Andre Wisdommlkop

Andre Wisdom had an outstanding loan spell with Derby in 2013/14 as they finished 3rd and reached the play-off final.

Wisdom has had loan spells with West Brom and Norwich since, but those weren't as successful as his loan in the East Midlands.

Wisdom is a fast, powerful full back who can cross and dribble into the box. Derby only have one recognised right back in their squad, Cyrus Christie but he is a very good player. However, a choice of whether to play Cyrus Christie or Andre Wisdom would be a great dilemma for Nigel Pearson to be in.
