Charlton have had a rather good start to life in the Championship and will be delighted with the progress that they’ve made under Lee Bowyer.
The Addicks earned promotion to the 2nd division of English football last season, and haven’t dawdled on their return as they sit in the top-half of the table.
One man who has had a huge impact on their recent past is Bowyer. The manager has been truly incredible since he took over, and they are looking like a good acquisition to the division.

However, not everything has been a smooth ride and due to the ownership of the club there has been a lot of different rumours flying around about the manager potentially leaving the club to other sides in the league.
This is all because Bowyer has been put on a one year rolling contract by Roland Dutchatelet and that means that he isn’t tied down to anything long-term at the club. The reason that Dutchatelet has done this is because he thinks that having him on a long-term deal will make the sale of the club much harder as potential new owners may want to bring in their own manager.
Steve Gallen, the club director, has expressed recently that Bowyer wants to stay but there are concerns he may leave. All supporters at Charlton want to see him tied up to a long-term contract, but who would blame him for jumping ship in order to make his financial and job security much stronger.
Supporters think it’s pivotal that he’s put on a long-term deal and will probably feel more optimistic after Gallen’s recent comments saying that Bowyer wants the same thing as they do. This is always a boost to be on the same wavelength of the supporters, and hopefully he can come to a resolution quickly.
Dutchatelet has big decisions to make in the coming months, and Charlton fans will only stop worrying once he’s tied him down a new contract. Now, with Gallen’s comments that can be pleased that he wants to commit to the club, but it’s now up to the owner to let him.
