The League One top goalscorer was famously on fire last season. Will Grigg notched 25 goals to win the award, taking Wigan to the Championship and going on to have the most famous song of the Euro's. Not bad for England's 3rd tier.

The third tier of English football these days has some serious attacking talent now, with players more than ever willing to take the drop down a few divisions to showcase their talents.

Plenty of players bang the goals in and then find Championship and even Premier League clubs come knocking - just look at Dele Alli who found form for MK Dons before Spurs snapped him up.

In this article, FLW contributor Scott Rear takes a look at FIVE players who could win the golden boot in League One this time out...

Nicky Ajose (Charlton Athletic)

Last season's 2nd highest goalscorer with 24 goals for Swindon Town has now joined recently relegated Charlton Athletic for £850k.

You would expect that if he managed 24 goals for Swindon, he could at least score the same amount for a team aiming for promotion.

Scoring a goal on average every 138 minutes last season, it appears a clever bit of business from Charlton you would have to say.

Zac Clough (Bolton Wanderers)

Whilst strike partner Gary Madine scored goals for fun for Sheffield Wednesday last time he plied his trade in League One, it is 21-year-old Zac Clough who is the main talisman now at Bolton.

The youngster has attracted a lot of interest and if he starts the season well they will find it tough to keep hold of him, you would have thought.

However, if he gets a full season under his belt then don't be surprised to see him reach 20 goals this season.

Billy Sharp (Sheffield United)

The Sheffield Utd poacher managed 21 league goals last term, with an impressive minutes per goal ratio of 1 in every 180 minutes.

Sheffield United should finally make a real push for promotion this season after some impressive transfer business so Sharp will be hoping for another return of 20+ goals.

Lee Gregory (Millwall)

Another with an extremely impressive record last season. Gregory averaged a goal every 153 minutes as he found the back of the net 20 times.

Millwall will be expecting to be in the promotion hunting pack again and it is hard to imagine Gregory having a quiet season.

Will the Championship teams come sniffing if he hits form again? Only time will tell.

Ched Evans (Chesterfield)

Ched Evans

Whilst Nicky Maynard and Paddy Madden may not agree with my final choice, I have gone for a controversial selection in Ched Evans. Unfit? Probably. Rusty? Undoubtedly. Mentally prepared? Doubtful. But, if Chesterfield can unlock the talent which every Sheffield United fan witnessed then they could have the best striker in the league in Ched Evans.

During the season in which Evans was found guilty of his alleged crimes, he had already scored over 30 goals for The Blades and the majority of fans believe they would have been promoted had he not missed the last 5 games or so.

Even if Evans isn't quite the same player and Chesterfield don't create as many chances for him as he is used to, the potential he could score 15-20 goals is a real possibility.
