It's safe to say that it's been a frustrating first season back in the Championship for Barnsley, as they continue to struggle to stay afloat in the second tier of English football.

The Tykes won promotion from League One under the management of Daniel Stendel, but he didn't last long in the Championship as was dismissed in October 2019.

They since have appointed Gerhard Struber, who has (so far) been unable to guide them to safety in the second tier, with Barnsley currently sat bottom of the table, and seven points adrift of 21st place Hull City.

It could be an interesting summer transfer window ahead for Struber's side, and you would imagine that some of his squad will be attracting interest from elsewhere after some impressive performances this term.

Find out who they are, on the next page....

Woodrow has arguably been Barnsley's best player this season.

The former Fulham forward has scored 15 goals in his 33 appearances in all competitions this term, and you have to feel as though they wouldn't stand a chance of survival in the Championship without him.

Therefore, if they are to be relegated into League One this season, Woodrow will surely have an eye on a move to a Championship club ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

Chaplin has been equally as impressive this season, and has shown that he can adjust to the demands of Championship football.

He signed for the club from Portsmouth in the summer of 2019, and has gone on to score 12 goals and be on hand to provide five assists for the Tykes to date this season.

You would imagine that his strong performances haven't gone unnoticed by other clubs, who could be tempted to make a move for the 23-year-old in the coming months.

He did sign a four-year deal with Barnsley in the summer, but that might not deter interest in his services, especially if they're relegated this term.

Radlinger signed for Barnsley in the summer of 2019 whilst Daniel Stendel was in charge at Oakwell.

He has gone on to make 18 appearances for the Tykes this season, but hasn't featured in their last seven matches with Bradley Collins being given the nod to start between the posts for Gerhard Struber's side.

Radlinger is out-of-contract at the end of this year's campaign, and it wouldn't come as a surprise to see him depart, especially if Barnsley are to be relegated into League One.

Thiam has struggled for consistent game time with Barnsley this season, which is understandable given the impressive performances from the likes of Conor Chaplin, Jacob Brown and Cauley Woodrow.

He has scored eight goals in 92 appearances for the Tykes, but is out-of-contract at the end of the season.

With no new deal on the horizon at the moment, it could hint that Thiam is heading for the Oakwell exit door in the summer.

Dougall is out-of-contract at the end of this year's campaign, and it remains to be seen as to whether he has a future with the club heading into next season.

The midfielder has been with Barnsley since July 2018, and has made 42 appearances in total for the Tykes.

However, if they're to be relegated into League One, then it seems likely that the club will be looking to trim the wage bill ahead of next season, and Dougall could be one of those to depart.
