The Sky Bet Championship season is approaching fast, with Leeds United and Marcelo Bielsa still having plenty of work to do between now and the end of the summer.

Leeds host Stoke City on the opening day of the season, and currently, their squad looks way short of the one Gary Rowett is building at the bet365 Stadium.

The Potters are amongst the favourites for promotion in the Championship next season and the opening day is going to be a real test for Bielsa, as he takes his first steps into one of the world’s most competitive divisions.

Bielsa will be looking to reshape his squad of players between now and then, adding to some of the quality that he already has available to him at Elland Road.

Here at FLW, we take a closer look at what’s currently available to Bielsa, identifying FOUR players that we are expecting to see in the starting XI against Stoke…

Blackman has arrived at Elland Road to be Leeds’ first choice goalkeeper for the new season.

The 24-year-old will be competing with Bailey Peacock-Farrell, but it would be a surprise to not see the Chelsea loanee starting against Stoke.

Ayling is so important to Leeds, which showed when he was out injured last season.

It remains to be seen what position Ayling is playing next season, but he is almost guaranteed to be part of Bielsa’s starting XI.

Alioski can play in a number of positions, with the Macedonian international offering versatility down the left and right.

He enjoyed a decent first year at Elland Road and will be looking to improve under Bielsa.

Hernandez was Leeds’ standout player last season, with the Spaniard really stepping up when others were struggling.

Bielsa will have to manage the 33-year-old’s involvement, but he needs to be playing big games.

Stoke is a huge test for Leeds and Hernandez should be involved from the off.
