Frank Lampard is currently embarking on his first pre-season as a Football League manager with Derby County.

There are three weeks to go until the new season kicks off.

Like other managers, Lampard will be spending this time running the rule over his squad as he assess their attributes to formulate a plan for the new season.

There is a lot to consider for any manager during this time of year.

What system to go with, which personnel he deploys in certain areas - what style of play he will identify with.

There will undoubtably be plans for which team will start the new season.

A lot can change between now and August 3 when Derby travel to Reading on the opening weekend of the new Championship season.

Here are four players, however, that should be certain starters for Lampard when he names his first starting XI next month when the new campaign kicks-off.

The impending arrival of one of Chelsea’s highly rated midfielders will set Derby fan’s tongues wagging.

He scored 14 goals on loan in Holland last season, pretty impressive for a 19-year-old.

Lampard is using his connections with Chelsea will and Mount will be a player who will join with the view to play.

Mount has been touted as being a shoo-in an England call-up for Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.

His potential is limitless and he should be guaranteed to start to unlock that for Derby this season.

The captaincy battle between Davies and Richard Keogh is ongoing but expect this defence  to come out on top.

More reliable at the back and more composed, Lampard will be looking for that kind of attribute as he looks to build a solid side that will look to attack the Championship.

Davies should be one of the first names on the team sheet.

Cameron Jerome was a bit-part player under Gary Rowett last season, making the majority of his appearances from the bench,

The former Norwich striker has that natural instinct in front of goal that Lampard will be dying to have.

He boasts considerable experience and his physical playing style could remind the former Chelsea midfielder of his former team mate Didier Drogba,

A big season ahead of the big striker, starting August 3.

Undoubtedly, he is one of Derby’s biggest and brightest talents. Lawrence will look to kick-on even more next season.

When he had the ball at his feet, invariantly, things happened for The Rams last year.

Lampard should jot the midfielder’s name down on the team sheet as one of first heading into the new season.

A young player who loves to create and attack - Lawrence is a definite starter.
