Wolves have made a good start to life in the Championship under new manager Walter Zenga, and sit firmly in the top half with 8 points from their opening five games.

Things could be better, but things could be a lot worse too after a summer which saw a host of new signings arrive at Molineux following their recent takeover.

Despite the influx of signings, the Wolves squad still has players in there who go quietly about their business, the underrated workhorses or consistent performers within a squad of higher profile players.

We have seen this at top clubs over the years, with players like Claude Makelele and Michael Carrick two prime examples of these sorts of footballer.

Here, FLW writer Lee Connor takes a look at THREE Wolves players who are underrated in their roles at Molineux...

Matt Doherty

Not much is known about the versatile defender outside of Wolves, but those closely associated with the club know exactly how good Doherty is.

Last year, playing out of position, he was voted the club's player of the season, and he has continued to keep his place in the team under Walter Zenga this time out.

Doherty is a very very steady footballer, capable of playing in numerous positions across the back and even in midfield if needed. A seriously underrated footballer.

Jack Price

Amid all the star and big name signings, Price continues to knit things together in the middle of the park.

Price is an excellent footballer, capable of keeping things simple to ensure the midfield ticks over, while also being able to put his foot in where it hurts and offer a creative spark when needed.

Jack Price is well liked at Molineux, but again goes largely unnoticed outside of the Midlands.

Dave Edwards

The Welsh international is the type of player every squad needs. Capable of playing in literally any position, Edwards very rarely lets his team down.

Deployed more in a defensive role earlier in his career, he has ventured a bit further forward during the last couple of seasons, adding some goals to his game as well.

Edwards remains and important cog at Molineux under Walter Zenga, something which is a testament to his qualities and longevity.
