Leeds United’s squad has been under the microscope for some time now, with the Whites heading for a mid-table finish in the Sky Bet Championship.

Victor Orta’s recruitment over the last 12 months has been heavily criticised, with Leeds’ squad clearly lacking Championship experience, with far too much reliance on foreign arrivals.

One player who has flopped during his first year in English football has been Jay-Roy Grot, who has scored just one goal for the Whites since his switch from the Dutch Eredivisie.

The 20-year-old forward has looked way out of his depth, with Leeds’ supporters completely underwhelmed by the Dutchman’s impact in English football.

Grot could very well be one player axed by Leeds in the summer transfer window.

With that in mind, we take a look at THREE potential replacements who would be a huge upgrade on Grot ahead of next season…

Fletcher’s 2017/18 record for Middlesbrough and Sunderland is hardly impressive, but he’s a better option than Grot.

Paul Heckingbottom previously worked with the striker at Barnsley, with Fletcher impressing at Oakwell.

He has more Championship experience than Grot and would undoubtedly be seen as an upgrade.

McBurnie, 21, is another forward Heckingbottom has worked with.

The Scottish striker has had an impressive spell with Barnsley during the second-half of this season, with McBurnie amongst the goals in the Championship.

Elland Road could be the perfect destination for McBurnie next season.

Rather than looking elsewhere for an upgrade on Grot, Leeds could turn to their academy, with Dalby a standout option.

We might see Dalby in first-team action between now and the end of the season, but next year could be the 18-year-old’s chance to shine.

He’s scored goals freely for the under-23s at Elland Road and looks to have a bright future ahead of him.
