You don't have to think back long to remember when the big boys of Premier League football such as Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea were all frequent visitors to Loftus Road.
The ambitious duo of chariman Tony Fernandes and manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink are desperate to get Queens Park Rangers back into the big time.
Fernandes has been prepared to back his manager over the summer and has brought Jake Bidwell, Joel Lynch, Jordan Cousins and Ariel Borysiuk to the club in a bid to boost their promotion hopes.
Hasselbaink made QPR a more solid, defensive unit and made them difficult to beat towards the end of the last campaign, reports are that Hasselbaink is still on the search for a striker and if he can get his target he will hope to combine defensive solidity with attacking flai,r and make Rangers a force to be reckoned with in the coming campaign.
This article takes a look at THREE players who will form the core of the team next season...
Nedum Onuoha
First comes Nedum Onuoha, the club captain.
Onuoha has been a regular in the QPR team since signing from Manchester City in January 2012, he has gone onto become an increasingly important part of the Rangers back four and is a key figure in the team.
He is a player of incredible pace and power, he has great strength and is an intimidating presence in the back four, he is a commanding figure and is a leader on and off the pitch.
Onuoha has plenty of experience at the highest level having made close to 100 appearances for Manchester City in the Premier League and then making a further 60+ appearances in the top flight for Rangers.
He also enjoyed a loan spell with Premier League Sunderland where he was a regular in the team making 30+ appearances in a season long loan.
He is a former England under 20 and under 21 international, he can play anywhere across the back four and it is clear the Rangers will need him at his best in the forthcoming campaign.
Jordan Cousins
Next comes new signing Jordan Cousins, Cousins signed a three year deal at Loftus Road this summer when signing from relegated Charlton Athletic.
At the age of just 22, Cousins has already made over 120 appearances in the 2nd tier of English football, scoring 7 goals.
He is widely regarded as a potential future Premier League star and even a future England midfielder, Cousins is already known at international level having received caps for England under 16's, 17's, 18's, 19's and 20's.
Cousins has great technical ability, a great range of passion accompanied with great vision and has all the physical attributes to push himself to the highest level.
He also has an eye for the spectacular and has scored some wonderful long range strikes for the Addicks.
Cousins is comfortable playing a variety of systems and will fit seamlessly into the QPR midfield and is likely to be a big player next season.
