QPR are currently in 15th place with survival all but assured in Ian Holloway's second season in charge.

The Rs have improved under Holloway because they finished 18th last season with 53 points, which was only two points away from relegation; they only need three points from the remaining six games to match that tally this season.

Holloway needs to keep the size of the squad small and competitive in order to get the best out of it as well as helping ensure that QPR deal with their financial issues.

This means that some places in the squad are under threat for next season especially if Holloway intends to bring in new players in order to improve his team.

Here are three players who are likely to leave in the summer unless they improve by the end of the season...

Perch has only played in seven league games this season, although he was injured for five months of the season. However, he returned in January and has failed to hold down a place in the starting XI since then.

At 32-years-old, he doesn't have a long career ahead of him at such a high level even as a defender. His injury won't have helped in this regard either because QPR need consistency from their players due to the small nature of the squad.

They can afford to get rid of him in the summer and bring in someone younger who is a lot more likely to avoid injuries and be an option throughout the season. The fact that Perch's contract runs out in the summer is also a factor because he hasn't done enough to show that he deserves an extension.

Sylla plays in one of the most competitive areas in the squad. Similar to Perch, he picked up a major injury which ruled him out for a few months and he is yet to regain his place in the first-team. However, he had been on a barren run of form prior to his injury because he last scored on Halloween with the injury coming in January.

Multiple players are above him in the pecking order for the forward areas. Luke Freeman, Matt Smith, Paul Smyth, Eberechi Eze and Connor Washington have all played well in recent games.

Therefore, it may be best for Sylla and QPR to part ways in the summer because he has struggled in front of goal and offers little as part of the collective unit especially with other better alternatives that have a great understanding with the players around them.

Mackie is another striker that has struggled for goals this season. The 32-year-old hasn't been in the QPR squad since December with his last goal coming against Aston Villa in November.

Similar to Perch, he is coming to the end of his contract and his four goals in 19 appearances have done little to suggest that he deserves an extension.

His age also works against him because he is past his peak at 32-years-old, so QPR could easily find a better alternative in the summer if they let him go, which would add to the competition in forward areas.
