Owen Coyle's long wait for his first league win as Blackburn Rovers boss finally ended on Saturday as his new side secured a crucial win over fellow strugglers Rotherham United.

It looked like it was going to be deja-vu for Rovers fans when Millers forward Danny Ward opened the scoring in the 12th minute, but Craig Conway came to rescue with the equaliser 10 minutes later.

Blackburn got the second of the afternoon seven minutes later when Marvin Emnes scored his second goal since his loan move from Swansea to give his side the lead going into half-time.

Blackburn got off to a flyer in the second and they scored their third just 15 seconds into the second half when Ben Marshall collected an Emnes pass and scored with a terrific finish from the edge of the box.

Ward got his second and gave Coyle a late scare but Sam Gallagher scored the fourth and final goal to wrap up all three points for the Lancashire side.

The win sees them jump off the bottom of the table, where they have been replaced by Cardiff City, and while they are still in the drop zone, just a point separates them and safety.

Following their impressive win over a side that look like they'll be relegation rivals, here are the THREE key players for Blackburn from their win over Rotherham...

Craig Conway

The Scottish midfielder's efforts often go a little under the radar in the wider media but he has been a crucial player for Blackburn since his move there in 2014.

His stunning equaliser set Rovers on their way to victory and he continued to have an impact on the game, most notably cutting the ball back for Marvin Emnes to score Rovers' second of the afternoon.

With a number of Blackburn's star players departing over the years, fans will be relieved to see the former Dundee United and Cardiff City man still plying his trade at Ewood Park.

Marvin Emnes

The signing of Swansea City's forgotten man, Marvin Emnes, was further evidence for some supporters that the club was in trouble as the Dutchman was unwanted at his previous two clubs.

He hit 18 goals in the 2011/13 season but has failed to recapture that form at either Middlesbrough or Swansea but he looked back to his best on Saturday with a goal and two assists for his new side.

Their was a fair bit of pressure on the shoulders of him and strike partner Sam Gallagher with Danny Graham absent, but Emnes in particular shone and was one of the key players for Blackburn.

Sam Gallagher

Emnes' striker partner was also impressive on Saturday as the 21-year-old continued his fantastic start to life in a Blackburn shirt, scoring his third in six starts for the club.

Although he count himself unfortunate not to have scored a hat-trick, the Southampton man can look back on his display with a lot of pride as, along with Emnes and Conway, he was one of the best players on the pitch.

If Gallagher can continue his promising start then Coyle and co. may have found a regular goal scorer, worthy of replacing the prolific, but recently departed, Jordan Rhodes.
