Aston Villa yesterday joined the hunt to sign Liverpool midfielder Luis Alberto, with the Liverpool Echo reporting he could well be on his way to Villa Park.

Villa are on their way to rebuilding a squad which last season suffered so much, succumbing to relegation with only 3 wins all season and some terrible performances.

For new manager Roberto Di Matteo, it is imperative that he has a squad willing to work for each other and with enough Championship experience to get them out of the league. The addition of Bournemouth captain Tommy Elphick typified this stance.

With plenty of rumours still swirling around Villa Park, including that of Liverpool man Luis Alberto, things may well be on the up for the Villans.

In this article, FLW writer Lee Connor takes a look at THREE players who could follow Luis Alberto to Aston Villa this summer...

Andreas Pereira

The Man United youngster has been told he can leave the club in search of first team football, and a move to the Championship might be ideal for the attacking midfielder.

There is little doubt he has bags of ability, and a season of regular football in a high flying Championship team might well do wonders for his career.

If Villa want to go up, they will need young hungry players as well as experience pros. Pereira fits that mould perfectly.

Ritchie De Laet

Roberto Di Matteo might well want defensive reinforcements, and a move for the Leicester man and title winner De Laet could be a wise one.

Experienced at Championship level and able to fill in both full back positions, De Laet would indeed be an excellent addition to the squad at Villa Park if a deal could be struck.

The Belgian was pushed out at Leicester as they romped to the Premier League title, spending time on loan with Middlesbrough, where he won another promotion. De Laet would be an excellent addition in my opinion.

Bertrand Traore

The former Chelsea manager might want to use his connections at Stamford Bridge to aid his promotion assault, and a move for young striker Traore might well be ideal.

Big, powerful, and quick, he would be tailor made for the Championship and could form an excellent partnership with the incoming Ross McCormack - if rumours are to be believed.

Traore made an impression in the Chelsea squad towards the end of the season, but with Diego Costa, new signing Batshuayi, and reports of a move for Romelu Lukaku in place too, Traore is likely to find game time hard to come by at the Bridge.

A move to the Championship could be just the ticket for the youngster.
