Norwich City were relegated last season to mark an immediate return to the Sky Bet Championship, following promotion during the 2014/15 campaign.

The club have toiled between the top flight and the second tier for a fair few years now and Scottish manager Alex Neil has been kept on at the club, in the hope that he can be the boss to oversee another promotion to the Premier League.

Norwich finished second from bottom of the top flight last season, with only the hapless Aston Villa below them and improvements will be required on the pitch ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.

With more new recruits likely to be on the horizon, some players will inevitable be offloaded during the coming weeks to free up more space in the Canaries’ squad.

Football League World writer Lee Clarke takes a look at three players who are definitely fighting for their future at Carrow Road, ahead of the new Sky Bet Championship campaign.

Matt Jarvis

Matt Jarvis

The former West Ham United winger was recently ruled out for another three months with a niggling injury problem and there seems a genuine concern for the winger’s future at the club.

Jarvis has been injury prone for a lot of his career and although no footballer chooses to be injured intentionally, boss Neil may look to offload him somewhere down the line.

The signing of Sergi Canos from Liverpool will throw Jarvis to the back of the queue for a place in the side and he will have it all to do to recover his starting role when he returns to full fitness.

Michael Turner

Turner has joined Wednesday on loan

The veteran defender spent last season on loan with Sheffield Wednesday and helped the Owls secure a place in the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final, where they were defeated by Turner’s former club Hull City.

The 32-year-old has since returned to the Canaries but his days look numbered at the club with Neil clearly not fancying the player as being good enough for his team.

Blessed with lots of Premier League and Championship experience, Turner could still do a job for another club, with a summer switch away from Carrow Road looking highly likely.

Cameron Jerome

Although the former Birmingham City striker enjoyed a fruitful season in front of goal the last time Norwich were a Championship club, time could be running out on Jerome’s Norwich City career.

The Canaries have been heavily linked with big money moves for several strikers in recent weeks and if boss Alex Neil was entirely convinced by Jerome, he surely wouldn’t feel the need to sign one.

The 29-year-old managed a miserable three goals in the Premier League last season and after two seasons with the club it could be time for pastures new for the striker.
